About The
Arc
The Arc of Southern Maryland promotes community involvement,
independence and personal success for children and adults with intellectual
and developmental disabilities. Our core belief is that those who
receive services should have as much control of their own lives
as possible. We strive to help all achieve their individual goals
and expand their horizons.
We began providing services in Southern Maryland in
1975 and today work with families and individuals in Calvert, Charles
and St. Mary’s counties. We are a participating agency of
the United Ways in all three counties.
While our focus is providing services in these three
counties, we are part of a larger network in Maryland that includes
The
Arc of Maryland, located in Annapolis, and 10 other chapters
around the state. Together we are working to change lives and minds
in Maryland about developmental disability. Read more about our
history and our state-wide Changing
Minds…Changing Lives campaign that’s making a difference
in our counties and around the state. We are also members of The
Arc US.
The Arc of Southern Maryland is a not-for-profit 501(c)3
organization with an active volunteer community and dedicated staff.
